Effective July 1, 2006, commercial buildings over 75 ft. (approx. 7 stories) are required by the NYC DOB to install photoluminescent materials in the stairwells.

Existing buildings shall have exit door and handle outlines, stair and landing markings with additional emergency signage. Please refer to NYC DOB LL26-RS 6-1 & 6-1A for complete details.
